Johannesburg - Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) - Pretoria
Fly from OR Tambo Airport and stay for one night close to the Victoria Waterfalls at Ilala Lodge Hotel. Enjoy a three night journey on the Rovos Rail from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to South Africa. A 1600 kilometre journey, linking the Victoria Falls to Pretoria.
The cost includes economy airfare with Fastjet from Johannesburg to Victoria Airport (depart: 11h10 – arrive: 12h50). Our hotel representative will be at the airport to welcome you on arrival. Transfer to the hotel for check-in.
You can choose between two activities: A tour of Victoria Falls OR a Sunset Cruise.

After breakfast enjoys a tour of Victoria Falls (if you did the sunset cruise the previous day). It's a truly awe-inspiring experience – the sight, the sound, the smell; the humbling feeling that here indeed is Nature's Supreme Masterpiece.
At 16h00 meet up with the Rovos Rail team at the Pullman’s room at the Victoria Falls Hotel for a briefing. Enjoy a short walk of about 50 meters to the train station. The train departs at 17h00, heading southeast towards Thompsons Junction while you enjoy your first dinner on board which will be announced by a gong.

Early morning continental breakfast before we disembark at 06h00 for a game drive at The Hide, a private concession area in Hwange National Park in search of predators and prey alike. Return to the train where lunch will be served while traveling along the eastern edge of Hwange National Park along one of Africa's most extended stretches of straight railway lines – 114 kilometers - through beautiful landscape to Bulawayo, the second-largest city in Zimbabwe. Bulawayo thus has the distinction of having the widest streets and the longest railway platforms in the world!
Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars. We travel through baobab country. Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to the South African border at Beitbridge.

Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10h00. We will cross the border into South Africa. After formalities have been finalized at Beitbridge (customs clearance will be done by your host. The train crosses the Limpopo River to Musina. The train passes through the pretty town of Louis Trichardt, leaving behind baobab country. Continue South we pass the edge of the escarpment and cross the Tropic of Capricorn. Lunch is served in the dining cars as the train travels north through Modimolle (previously Nylstroom), christened by the Voortrekkers as the source of the Nile River as the town’s river happened to be north flowing and Bela-Bela (meaning the pot that boils). Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Pyramid for overnight.

Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 09h30.
The train arrives at Pretoria Train Station in Capital Park to arrive around 10h00. Enjoy time to explore the beautifully appointed station before continuing to your next destination.

The Deluxe Suites (±10 sq metres) accommodate two passengers and have a lounge area and en-suite bathroom with shower.
The Pullman Suites (±7 sq metres) are equipped with a comfortable sofa-seat during the day with a conversion to double or twin beds for the evening and also have an en-suite bathroom with shower.

DRESS CODE: For days on the train dress is smart casual. Evening attire is more formal: for the gentlemen, a jacket and tie are a minimum requirement while for ladies we suggest cocktail/evening dresses or suits.
