Visit some of Africa’s last true wilderness destinations. We start our expedition with visiting Lake Elmenteita – in the heart of the spectacular Great Rift Valley. Then we spend 3-nights in the Masai Mara National Reserve, world-renowned for Big Five sightings and the migration herds residing in the park between July and October . It is an excellent place to witness the migration’s river crossings as the herds often cross the Mara river daily.

Enjoy an early morning walking safari (must be pre-booked) or enjoy another game drive in the conservancy. We leave the lake area behind as we drive through a part of the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. During our safari, we stay in the Mara Triangle, an area where the herds of the Great Migration enter and exit the Masai Mara from the Serengeti. The Mara Triangle is situated on the western bank of the Mara River and comprises one-third of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
We enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park searching for lions and leopards, herds of plains game and elephants, beautiful birds and elegant giraffes. Late afternoon we drive to our lodge, set on a hill with stunning views of the Mara River.

Nothing is more spectacular than launching at sunrise & floating effortlessly in a hot air balloon over the Masai Mara - an iconic African experience we highly recommend (for your account). We enjoy a full day with game drives, discovering more of the Mara Triangle, an area with one of the highest densities of wildlife in the world, including a healthy population of the Big Five. The annual highlight during this season is to experience the Great Migration and dramatic crossings at the Mara River, one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles.

Enjoy a full day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives (or a full-day game drive). The lodge’s prime location makes it possible for you to explore the river banks at daybreak. Owing to the river’s proximity, you are ideally positioned to photograph the massive herds of wildebeest as they gather and ultimately start crossing the Mara River. With regions designated for off-road driving or priority off-road (when you find a big cat or rhino), the Triangle provides greater flexibility to make the most of your once-in-a-lifetime safari. The Mara Triangle is also home to more than 470 bird species for the birders to enjoy, including almost 60 raptors such as vultures and martial eagles.

After a final game drive, you will bid farewell to the Masai Mara and drive to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. A privately owned conservancy of approximately 190 km² located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, near Lake Elmenteita. The conservancy protects diverse habitats including grasslands, acacia woodland, and wetlands, supporting wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, buffalo, eland, and leopards. It is also an important bird area, particularly for flamingos and other waterbirds associated with Lake Elmenteita. Soysambu combines conservation, research, and low-impact tourism in a scenic and historically significant landscape.
Kenya’s most famous reserve (~1,510 km²) adjoining Tanzania’s Serengeti. Renowned for the annual Great Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River. The reserve supports high densities of predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Rolling savannahs, riverine forests, and acacia woodlands make it a biodiversity hotspot with over 450 bird species.
