Your Journey Mapped Out

5 Nights in South Luangwa National Park| Chikunto Safari Lodge
  • Morning & evening game drives
  • Boat cruises
  • Walking safaris

Itinerary (Day by Day)

The package includes return economy airfare with ProFlight from Johannesburg to Mfuwe Airport (departing at 12h00, arriving at 17h45), the gateway to South Luangwa. On arrival at the airport, your safari guide will meet you for your transfer to the camp. Enjoy a game drive en route to Chikunto Safari Lodge, located deeper in the park than most lodges, where we will stay for 5 nights.

Stay: Chikunto Safari Lodge
Room: Tented Suite
Meals: Dinner, breakfast, lunch and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks

Set out on incredible game drives, night drives, boat safaris, walking safaris and scenic sundowner trips in the surrounding area. Alternatively, settle in a deckchair at the lodge and watch the abundance of game drawn to the river. The game is excellent in this park area, and as it is in such a remote area, you are unlikely to see other vehicles.

We highly recommend a night drive as it gives you a fantastic chance to see a leopard.

Stay another 4 nights: Chikunto Safari Lodge Room: Tented Suite
Meals: Dinner, breakfast, lunch and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Start your day with breakfast, followed by a game-viewing transfer through the remarkable South Luangwa National Park to Mfuwe Airport for your onward flight home (departing at 12h20, arriving at 18h05).

National Parks

Covering approximately 9,050 km² in eastern Zambia, South Luangwa National Park is renowned for its unspoilt wilderness and exceptional walking safaris. The Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons attract high concentrations of wildlife, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, and endemic species such as Thornicroft’s giraffe. Seasonal changes dramatically shape the landscape, making it one of Africa’s premier destinations for both wildlife viewing and immersive safari experiences.
