Situated on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, bordering Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Private Reserve covers approximately 200,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. The reserve is defined by the Khwai River, which attracts abundant wildlife including elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and African wild dogs. Known for its excellent predator sightings and diverse habitats of floodplains, woodlands, and riverine forests, Khwai offers a balance of land-based and water safaris with a strong focus on community-led conservation.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site covering up to 15,000 km², this inland delta is created by the Okavango River fanning out across the Kalahari sands. Seasonal floods transform the arid landscape into a lush wetland, supporting huge concentrations of wildlife. Known for mokoro (dugout canoe) safaris, it provides sanctuary to elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, and an extraordinary diversity of birds and aquatic life.
