Experience Tanzania’s Most Iconic Wildlife Areas
Tanzania is renowned for its diverse landscapes and fantastic wildlife, which makes it an incredible safari destination. Two of the best safari circuits to visit are the Northern Circuit, with its famous national parks, and the Southern Circuit, well-known for its off-the-beaten-track safaris. As an all-round safari destination, it is one of the few countries that offer mountain climbing, safaris and Island getaways.
Northern Safari Circuit
The NORTHERN SAFARI CIRCUIT encompasses some of Africa’s most iconic parks and reserves, including:
- Africa’s most famous park, the Serengeti! It is renowned for its incredible concentrations of predators and the Great Wildebeest Migration.
- Tarangire National Park boasts vast herds of elephants and giant baobab trees.
- The Ngorongoro Crater is a haven for wildlife, including a large predator population and one of the last wild refuges for the black rhino.
- Lake Manyara forms one edge of the Great Rift Valley. The lake itself is a birder’s paradise, with more than 350 bird species.
- At a height of 5,985m, Mount Kilimanjaro is a majestic icon in the area. It is also seen as one of the world’s most accessible summits.
Southern Safari Circuit
Visit the SOUTHERN SAFARI CIRCUIT for the best off-the-beaten-track spots in Tanzania:
- Selous Game Reserve is the world’s largest game reserve, boasting Africa’s highest concentration of hippos, crocodiles and wild dogs.
- Ruaha National Park is home to the third-largest population of wild dogs in Africa.
Tanzania’s Most Iconic Island Destinations
- Zanzibar is bursting with culture and history, seemingly at odds with its idyllic white-sand beaches with palms swaying lazily in the sea breeze. It is the perfect place to relax after an exhilarating safari or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Mafia Island ticks all the boxes as it offers remote, pristine beaches, some of the best diving and snorkelling spots in Africa and is home to whale sharks as well as the endangered green turtle.
- Pemba Island is surrounded with warm, sub-tropical waters, with an idyllic island beach and is renowned for being one of the best diving and snorkelling destinations in East Africa.
Tanzania Highlights
- A Tanzania safari’s ultimate highlight is seeing the Great Wildebeest migration in the Serengeti National Park! The migration occurs throughout the year, and YES, you CAN see the migration 12 months of the year in the Serengeti.
