Explore Botswana
Botswana is one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations, renowned for its pristine wilderness areas and unsurpassed game encounters. Wilderness areas are home to huge herds of African wildlife, roaming unrestricted between the Kalahari and the Okavango Delta. The fact that 38% of Botswana’s land area is devoted to national parks, reserves, and wildlife management guarantees a superb big-game safari experience.
Botswana’s famous wildlife areas include Chobe National Park, Savute Channel, Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert.

Botswana’s Wildlife Safari Destinations
Botswana is a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise! Some parts are lush, green, and home to big game and predators, while others are arid and untouched.
Chobe National Park
Chobe National Park is an elephant mecca, as it contains the largest density of elephants in Africa. Chobe offers adventures such as game drives and river cruises, excellent birdwatching, and exceptional photographic opportunities.
Savuti
The Savuti is part of Chobe National Park. This area is famous for its predators, ranging from leopards to large lion pride, which sometimes hunt elephants right before you—behaviour not generally witnessed elsewhere.
Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is also known as “the river that never finds the sea.” It is a vast wildlife haven home to an impressive number of animals and birdlife. Its waterways are filled by annual floods, and you can explore the area with a mokoro canoe or boat.
Moremi Game Reserve
Moremi Game Reserve forms part of the Delta and has a healthy population of predators, including leopards and wild dogs, alongside vast elephant herds, buffaloes, antelopes and birds.
Khwai Concession
The Khwai Concession is next to the Moremi Game Reserve and is one of the best places in Botswana to see wild dogs and other predators. Safaris within these concessions allow for more flexibility with walking, mokoro canoe rides and night game drives.
Makgadikgadi Pans
The vast Makgadikgadi Pans are a lunar-like landscape inhabited by unique, desert-adapted species. During the summer rains, these shallow, dry pans fill with water and attract a large number of wildlife and migratory birds.
Nxai Pan National Park
The biggest draw to Nxai Pan National Park is the zebras, which migrate by the thousands to this area. This is the second largest land animal migration in Southern Africa. This salt pan is also known for its ancient, towering baobab trees, called “Baines baobabs.”
Central Kalahari Game Reserve
The magnificent expanse of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is not to be missed. The reserve is famous for the Kalahari black-maned lions and large concentrations of meerkats.
